What Do You Want From Life?

(Read in :03)“Be around the people you want to be like because you will be like the people you are around.”~Sean Reichle

I hope at least a few of you took time to watch the incredible TED talk by Scott Dinsmore I wrote about on Monday. The title of it is How to Find the Work You Love but it’s way more about life than it is about work.

Here’s the link again in case you didn’t. Go ahead and watch it now if you want. I’ll wait til you get back. It will only take a little over 15 minutes. Watch it while you get your oil changed or wait in line to pick up the kids. It’s well worth it and it’s delivered with so much energy the time will fly.

TED-Learn life from great minds

You say you never heard of TED talks? You don’t watch TED talks? I encourage you to start right now! TED (which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design) talks have been around since 1984. And they’re FREE to watch! If you’d rather read the message, there are written transcripts for every talk. You’ll discover a whole new world! A good place to begin is to Google “most watched TED talks.” TED’s tagline is “ideas worth sharing.” In my opinionTED >TV !

Three powerful lifehacks

There are three awesome takeaways from his talk. Three things we can control no matter what happens.

  • You can invest time in knowing yourself and what matters to you most in life. You can make the daily choices that will move you in that direction. No one can stop you from that.
  • You can push the boundaries of what you once thought you could do. You can achieve more, do more and become a better version of yourself than you ever dreamed possible. No one can stop you from that.
  • You can choose the people you spend time with and minimize the time with people who don’t energize you. Yes, you can. You can hang with people who are complacent, slow to take action or tell you it can’t be done. But you can choose instead to align yourself with people who share their positive energy and inspire possibilities! “Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

One more nugget from Dinsmore, “There’s this quote by Jim Rohn and it says. ‘You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.’ And there is no bigger lifehack in the history of the world from getting where you are today to where you want to be than the people you choose to put in your corner. They change everything…”

“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”~Edmund Lee

I see greatness in you! See you Monday!

Betty. Thanks so much for keeping things like TED talks in front of us. I don’t use those as much as I need to for my own learning and motivation. You inspire me to do things that normally I don’t tend to seek. Doc Newbold.

Growth is life. Energy needs tending. If we are to live in a way that honors the best version of who we can become we must never stop learning and using our mind.
